Anne Greenwood Brown

Anne Brown-018-J Dunn PhotographyDeep Betrayal - JacketAnne Greenwood Brown’s DEEP BETRAYAL (Random House/
Delacorte) has just hit the bookstore shelves. As this sequel to last year’s LIES BENEATH, a tale of murderous mermaids, begins it’s been thirty days, two hours, and seventeen minutes since Calder left Lily standing on the shores of Lake Superior. Not that she’s counting. And when Calder does return, it’s not quite the reunion Lily hoped for. Especially after she lets her father in on a huge secret: he, like Calder, is a merman. Obsessed with his new identity, Lily’s dad monopolizes Calder’s time as the two of them spend every day in the water, leaving Lily behind. Then dead bodies start washing ashore. Calder blames his mermaid sisters, but Lily fears her father has embraced the merman’s natural need to kill. As the body count grows, everyone is pointing fingers. Lily doesn’t know what to believe—only that whoever’s responsible is sure to strike again. . . .

In addition to her YA writing, Anne has had her creative nonfiction published in USE YOUR WORDS: A WRITING GUIDE FOR MOTHERS (Viva Editions, April 2012) and the literary e-zine, Literary Mama (April 2010). She is a former high school English teacher, and she taught writing on the graduate level for seven years. She is a member of the APOCALYSPSIES and she is a guest blogger on the popular writer’s website, Writer Unboxed, where she has received great response to her articles on writing first drafts and the art of revision (KICKING OUT A FAST FIRST DRAFT post).  Anne is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and she has been a panelist at the UW Madison’s annual Writer’s Institute.

When she’s not at home in Minnesota with her husband and their three above-average children, you can find her on Lake Superior, waiting for something amazing to flash by.

You can find Anne on the web at her website, on Facebook and on Twitter at @annegbrown.
